Indianapolis 2001
Formula 1 at the Brickyard

F1 returned to the U.S. of A and the Brickyard at Indianapolis welcomed it with open arms.   About 200,000 fans braved the admittedly crappy weather for a good time at the USGP.   Ferrari finished 1-2 and took a stranglehold on the Championship.

Some opinions and advice:
1) Do Indy at least once (but only once), because you do not get a better feel for the speed of F1 anywhere else
2) There are over 200,000 people to share the experience with you
3) The place is HUGE and you do not get a feel for this unless you visit
4) The best place to see at least qualifying is at the knoll at Turn 7.  It is after a long straight and you see brakes glowing, extreme acceleration and at least two turns in the best passing area of the track.
5) Downtown Indy is small and most goes on in the few hotels in the city center.
